Case study · Financial services platform engineering

Configurable membership plans, launched 70–80% faster.

A subscription financial services provider needed a platform where new plans and partner journeys are configuration, not code changes.

The challenge

Membership products on rigid infrastructure.

The provider runs a portfolio of tiered membership plans, each with its own eligibility rules, products and customer journey. The old platform could not keep up.

  • Hard-coded journeys. Onboarding and eligibility logic were fixed in the application.
  • Scaling pressure. Direct database reads became a bottleneck as volume grew.
  • Scattered documents. Reports and exports had no consistent, secure storage.
  • Limited visibility. Operations heard about issues from customers.
Solution

A modular, API-first platform.

  1. 01

    Configurable journeys

Journeys adapt to eligibility, plan, product choice and referral source.

  2. 02

    Microservices

Separate services for onboarding, membership, payments, referrals and reporting, each deployed and scaled on its own.

  3. 03

    Redis performance layer

Sessions, feature flags and frequent reads cached in memory.

  4. 04

    AWS infrastructure

Hosting, backups and Amazon S3 for documents and reports, with Grafana monitoring.
